National HomeCare & Hospice Month – Giving Thanks to Our Aides

November is National HomeCare & Hospice Month and a time where the staff and board of directors of nonprofit organizations, HomeCare & Hospice and Total Senior Care, like to express their appreciation for the hard work performed by their Home Health Aides (HHAs) and Personal Care Aides (PCAs). Every Monday in November, Aides are gifted with an expression of gratitude. Some examples include doughnuts and apple cider, popcorn, candy, and hot chocolate.

“Dedicating a month to appreciating our Aides is important to this organization because we truly wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them,” said Agency Relations Coordinator, Ashley LaBombard. She continued to explain how the Aides and nurses at HomeCare & Hospice express great pride in their work and feel good about what they do. Over the past couple of months, LaBombard has interviewed several HHAs, PCAs and Nurses at HomeCare & Hospice to gain insight on their work and what it means to them.

“I love taking care of and helping people,” stated Amber Finch, HHA.

“I have been doing this for 20 years. Going in homes and taking care of people – getting to know people – it’s like taking care of family,” said Frances Wetzler, HHA and Transportation.

“Giving families insight on what to expect – being there for them – it feels good,” stated Judy Warner, HHA.

“I enjoy helping the families. I have a place in my heart for Hospice care,” said Kathleen Sherrick, LPN.

“I love the people I care for. I couldn’t do what I do if I didn’t love my job,” stated Rhonda Fuller, LPN.
